It's meow's first time doing a review for skincare products. Just a small gesture to thank Only Beauty for sending me samples. Teehee.
Avene has always been the hypoallergenic babe among skincare products. It's products contain spring water from the Sainte-Odile spring, housed in Haut-Languedoc national park, France. And it was a trusted skin product for over 200 years.
Here comes the sachet of sample:
And the full sized (50ml) Oil Control Milk looks like this:
Their Oil Control Milk claims to:
- Regulate sebum production
- Fight bacteria that cause skin problems such as acne
- Soothes skin from inflammation
- Mattify skin with long lasting oil control
- Hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic
- Contain no fragrance or colourings
Ingredients: Avene Thermal Spring Water (Avene Aqua), Cyclomethicone, Proplyene Glycol, Peg-12, Dimethicone, Glycerine, Polysorbate 60, Cetyl Alcohol, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Polyacrylate-13, Cetrimonium Bromide, Chlorphenesin, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Seed Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Polyisobutene, Polysorbate 20, Salicylic Acid, Sodium Acetate, Sorbitan Isostearate, Sorbitan Stearate, Triethanolamine, Water (Aqua), Zinc Gluconate, Zinc Sulfate.
As we can see from the ingredients, the main ingredient is Avene Thermal Spring Water. Apart from that, salicylic acid is famous for its acne-fighting properties. Pumpkin seed oil, on the other hand, is a powerful antioxidant with vitamins A and E, as well as Zinc, which aids in skin regeneration and regulates sebum production.
The product comes out as a light milky fluid, quite watery and feels fresh on the skin. It was easily absorbed into the skin, leaving a dewy finish (not so much of mattifying I guess). Skin felt comfortable with no stickiness. The oil control is not very strong, as my skin starts to become oily again after about five hours. Usually I get oily skin in about 4 hours after washing my face. However my gigantic (rawrr~) pores shrunk after applying it. Probably due to enough moisture from the spring water and also the alcohol content. Too bad I can't say much about the acne fighting properties because I only had enough for one day's usage. (>__<)
Pros
- suitable for sensitive, combination-oily to oily skin
- moisturizes your skin while making it less oily
- makes pores less noticeable
- comfortable and not sticky when applied
- can be used as a makeup primer
Cons
- Contains alcohol. Some people with sensitive skin might have problems with it. But meow researched a bit on cetyl alcohol, and people are sensitive to the impurities in the alcohol rather than the alcohol itself. So provided that it is pure, babes with sensitive skin will likely to be okay after using it.
- No sunscreen protection
As for the price... a 50ml bottle costs MYR89 to 99, depending on where you plan to get it from.
That's all for my first review post on skincare. Meow is hoping with practice it gets better =)
